Painting in China
After the Romania art camp I flew to the People's Republic of China to take part in the Yinchuan-China International Art Camp which began on 7 September and will end on 22 September. This was also my first visit to China, and I stayed in two different places before I arrived in Yinchuan.
My first stop was Hong Kong, and I visited the National Heritage Museum and saw the Bruce Lee exhibit. My next stop was Beijing, the capital of China. I was happy to visit the large artists area 798, and took the opportunity to create a painting while I was inspired by all the artists and galleries there. I also visited an international art fair at the Beijing Exhibition Centre, and met many artists, including Chinese artist Ken Ho (painter, printer, sculptor, calligrapher). Ho invited me to dinner at the Russian Restaurant near the exhibition centre, and we discussed art and the life of artists in the world.
Finally arrived Yinchuan on 5 September. So far I have begun work on five canvasses and also added my painting to the community mural. My work is in the camp catalog, as well as in the Yinchuan Daily newspaper! More information to come.So far I have begun work on five canvasses and also added my painting to the community mural.
